Carol R Parks’ interest in glass was sparked when she collected sea glass on the beach in front of her home to protect her children’s and dog’s feet. After Hurricane Katrina, she had amassed a wheelbarrow full of glass which she began to kiln to create wearable art. As a scientist and ED Physician, the physics of molten glass at 1700 degrees in the kiln fascinated her. Carol has been an assistant instructor and artist at Arrowmont in Gatlinburg TN and currently exhibits at the Dauphin Island Art Gallery. Her pieces resonate with water life and mermaid heritage evoking memories of time spent on Dauphin Island.
